concerned with the well-being of every individual, with the goal of offering quality medical attention to low income people in 9 distinct health services 7 days a week. No patient is ever turned away for lack of funds.
Our work is made possible thanks to the ongoing support of volunteers and donors, who help us keep medical care accessible for those who need it most.
The Kausay Wasi Clinic is located in a rural area of Peru and is surrounded by a multitude of extremely poor communities.Ā Since 2005, the Clinic has provided health care services to more than 350,0000 patients, offering 9 distinct health services 7 days a week. The most important characteristic of the Clinic is that our staff treat patients with dignity, respect for their traditions, customs and beliefs. The Clinic family is conformed of a beautiful group of doctors, staff, volunteers and directors. All Clinic staff speak Quechua, the native language.
The Clinic uses innovative, culturally and linguistically appropriate strategies that break down barriers and eliminates disparities in the health status of the community. The ability to meet a patientās health and social service needs in Spanish and Quechua, while adapting treatments to ensure cultural appropriateness, distinguishes the Clinic from other primary health care providers in the area.
The Clinic hosts 8-10 visiting volunteer U.S. Medical teams a year. Visiting medical teams cover all their expenses, including transportation, lodging, medical supplies, etc. To date, the Clinic has hosted 159 visiting medical teams from the U.S., Canada and Europe. Volunteer doctors have worked with Association Pro Salud Calca (our parent organization) since 2003, and have performed over 2,500 operations on children with hearing difficulties, restored sight to elderly people blinded by cataracts, conducted orthopedic (including prosthetics), cleft lip, palate, and reconstructive facial surgeries for burn and accident victims.
Gynecological exams, x-rays, dental care, physical therapy, prosthetics, and general medicine are available on a daily basis, and pharmaceuticals are available at very low cost, or provided free of charge to those who cannot afford to purchase them.
Given the continuing demand for services, The Clinic needs to grow, and offer even more services to our patients. We hope to accomplish this by acquiring newer and better equipment through the generosity of individuals, U.S. hospitals, companies and fund raising.

The Kausay Wasi Clinic employs innovative, culturally and linguistically appropriate strategies that break down barriers for the poor to access health care, and eliminates disparities in the health status of the community. The ability to meet a patientās health and social service needs in the language they are most comfortable communicating in, and adapting treatments to ensure cultural appropriateness, distinguishes the Clinic from other primary health care providers in the area.
The Health Care System in this region is very precarious and most of the population live in rural zones. Seeing this, we saw the necessity to create the Kausay Wasi Clinic to provide medical attention to the population unable to afford health care, and that deserves to treated with respect and dignity. That said, the Clinic philosophy is that everyone should invest in their health care, and we ask patients to contribute to the extent they are able.
